Første møtet med Galapagos

Helt siden jeg var barn og så bilder fra Galapagos har jeg villet dra til disse øyene.
Det var noe der ,noe magisk.
Høsten 2002 dro jeg.Reise følge var mine tre barn.Vi skulle være sammen og styrke felleskapet.Vi skulle oppleve en annen kultur,et annet folkeslag og et unikt dyreliv.Morgenen 3 september-02 satt vi på flyet til Amsterdam. Derifra skulle vi videre til byen Quito i Equador.Denne byen ligger over 2000 m.o.h.Det er kaldt om natten ,men varmt og sterk sol om dagen.Vi hadde på forhånd leid en privat leilighet som vi skulle benytte i en ukes tid.I løpet av den tiden skulle reise til Galapagos ordnes og evt. Språkurs tas.
Utsikten gjennom flyvinduet er ubeskrivelig.Store høye fjell. Nede i dalen ligger huser tett i tett.Har aldri sett noe lignene.Det er som å lande i fly på høyfjellet.mye styr på flytplassen med henting av bagasje pass o.l(Her snakker få engelsk…)går vi ut for å få Taxi som kan kjøre oss til leiligheten.Dette blir en svært lang kjøretur gjennom hele byen.Og jeg lærer at her må priser avtales på forhånd,Helst reiserute også.Leiligheten ligger i tredje etasje.På hvertrappe avsats er det gitterdører som må låses.Mannen som kommer med nøkkel forteller at dette er viktig.Holde dørene låst.Tilsammen er det ti dører………
Vi lever enkelt disse dagene.Er på turer i parkene og reiser litt rundt som turister.Høydepunkt for ungene blir fjelltur og landskamp i fotball. Etter 10 dager finner vi en rimelig tur ut til Galapagos øyene med fly.Leiglighet ordner seg også og vi er godt fornøyd.Reiserådet her blir:Vær forsiktig,det tilbys utrolig mange sorter turer ut til øyene.Sikkerheten er variabel.På Galapagos lander vi på en liten flyplass.Her er alt manuelt.Vi skal videre til en annen øy.Nærmere bestemt Isabella Island.Dette er den største av Galapagos øyene,men mer primitiv en andre bebodde øyer.Vi venter i flere timer.Tilslutt får vi beskjed at et lite småfly skal ta oss med ut til øyen.Flyet er lite og vi får akkurat plass.Vi flyr lavt og ser konturene av øylandskapet.Det er vakkert.Ungene fryder seg .De ser lange sandstrender.Nå skal det bades.
I et tørt landskap lander vi med store kaktuser på alle kanter.En bil venter oss.Den skal kjøre oss til vårt nye bosted.Solen skinner skarpt og vi er svette og varme.På sandete veier kjører bilen oss gjennom landskapet.Farten er urovekkende.jeg prøver meg på noen engelske ord og en guide(disse fins det mange av,alle kan kalle seg det .De fleste kan brukbart engelsk og vet hvilke historier de skal fortelle til turistene.Noen ganger snakker de sant .Noen er ærlige og vil en vel.)svarer bare at slik kjører man her!Sandstøvet er overalt.Da bilen endelig stopper i en slags landsby ser vi et rosa murhus liggende 100m fra vannkanten!Her er vårt nye hjem.Et rom med to store senger,felleskjøkken(bestående av gass benkeplate og oppvaskumme)et stort rundt bord med stoler.Utsikten er rett til bølgene og havet.Heldigvis ser jeg ikke firfisler eller snoker på veggene denne første kvelden.
Vi bader og går rundt i den lille landsbyen om kvelden.Her er mye rart.Øgler langs stiene,mange øgler,hus som så vidt henger sammen,latter,musikk,grilling og spising til langt på natt.Salza rytmer.Menn med neglelakk og små restauranter.Hengekøyer.Vi rusler hjem og sover.Trygt?Døra har lås ,men insekter og skorpioner kan krype under sprekken i døren.Noen banker på om natten også.Liker det ikke helt,men etterhvert sovner jeg. I fem tiden om morgene våkner jeg av rop.Det er vannmannen som kommer for å selge vann!Hvis ikke jeg kjøper nå må jeg vente i tre dager på neste forsyning.Hjelp!Her er det bare å handle raskt.Frokost består denne morgningen av appelsiner og vann!Herlig!
